This weekend is RSPB Birdwatch

The Big Garden Birdwatch is the world's biggest bird survey, done by the RSPB annually, it provides them with a vital snapshot of the UK's birds each winter.

To take part, you just watch the birds that come into your garden over an hour and record them. They have provided a form for this which can be printed off from http://www.rspb.org.uk/images/bgbw_sheet_2009_tcm9-201495.pdf
Then input your records on their website http://www.rspb.org.uk/ and you have taken part.

So, if you need an excuse to sit down for an hour and gaze out the window, here you have it! The kids will love doing it as well.

Just a few photos we have taken in the garden.......we are lucky enough to have a wood immediately behind our garden and so have a good variety of birds throughout the year including......woodpecker, gold finches, nuthatch, longtail tits, blue tits, coal tits, green finches etc. The bullfinch has been coming and going for a few weeks and the pheasant was a permanent resident last year!
