Tour of Britain

Yesterday the sixth stage of the Tour of Britain finished in Bideford, having started earlier in the day from Frome. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and the sun shining. The race was due to finish around 2.45pm and entertainment had been arranged in the town from 10.30am. The Quay had been transformed with various promotional vechicles, barriers and signs.

The primary schools allowed their pupils to go from 12pm and I was able to leave work at 2pm so we were all able to meet up in town before the race finished. As the time got closer the excitement grew in the crowd, with lots of cheering.

The winner was Norway's Edvald Boasson Hagen, making this his fourth stage win in a row. He now has a 19 second lead over Kai Reus.

Stage seven, which runs from Hatherleigh in Devon to Yeovil, takes place today with the race finishing in London on Saturday.

After the race there was entertain in Victoria Park with different live bands and a version of Bidefords Got Talent. The evening was rounded off with a firework display.
